Goals

1. Learn new skills in 3D animation: storyboarding, modeling, texture mapping, key framing, lighting, cameras and video editing.

2. Apply our new skills to win the Autodesk Award for Visualization, given the best 30 second animation judged in 3 key areas:

      • Content Communication (40 Points)
      • Compelling Creativity (40 Points)
      • Technical Execution (20 points)
Steps
    1. Review the rules.
    2. Attend animation workshops 3 times a week to learn 3DS Max software.
    3. Discuss various concepts; throw out logical suggestions; keep crazy ideas.
    4. Sketch out storyboard.
    5. Start creating 3D models (wire frame meshes).
    6. Import some 3D models from Design Team files
    7. Add colors & texture maps to the models.
    8. Create 4 key scenes: wall-o-totes, running/crashing robot, picking up totes & tall stack.

    10. Animate models & cameras using key frames & paths.
    11. Do check renders of individual scenes at low resolution (320 x 240)
    12. Adjust as necessary, then render at high-resolution (640 x 480 resolution, 30 frames per second).
    13. Write, record narration and background music
    14. Assemble the scenes, narration, music and titling in Pinnacle Studio SE.
    15. Create low-resolution video. Review. Make adjustments. Repeat as necessary
    16. Create high-resolution video. Burn to CD.
    17. FedEx to Autodesk. Track package on FedEx's web site.
