OUR LEARNING ENVIRONMENT
Team 342 has presented our team's history and accomplishments
to our community through numerous presentations. Team 342 has also presented
to the Governor of South Carolina, Jim Hodges. In addition, Team 342
presented to the Secretary of South Carolina's Department of Commerce
and to various members of South Carolina's Department of Education.
Team 342 presented to the Legislators and business leaders at the South
Carolina Business and Educators Exposition in Columbia. Team 342 also
presented to government, colleges and school guidance counselors at
the State Conference for the Bureau of Apprentice Training including
a personal presentation to the National Director of the Bureau of Apprentice
Training, Dr. Anthony Swope.
Team 342 has an innovative way of generating interest in science and
technology. Team 342 and the Bosch Charleston Apprentice Program have
created a replica of the B-9 Robot from the 1960's television series,
"Lost in Space". All of the internal components of B-9 are
from a previous FIRST competition robot. The B-9 robot is used to excite
and inspire elementary and middle school children to consider a career
in science and technology.
